What's so special about Omega 321 Speedmaster
Almost three years ago, Omega gave Speedmaster fans one of the most excellent gifts imaginable when they reintroduced the legendary Calibre 321, which originally powered the Speedmaster during the 1950s and 1960s. Another significant introduction, the Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321, which we thoroughly examined and termed the Ultimate Speedmaster, will come after. The new Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 Canopus Gold is a watch that is all about luxury and is true to the first-ever Speedmaster, the CK2915-1 of 1957 - inside and out.
Speedmaster Calibre 321 - It's in the details!
What, therefore, is so unique about the Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 reference 322.214.171.124.01.001? By this point, you are presumably aware that all Omega watches, except for the tourbillon pieces, are produced separately from this Speedmaster. In a unique atelier, the tourbillon watches and Speedmasters with calibre 321 are made. Here are some things that differentiate the Omega 321 Speedmaster from other eyes.
Two-Fold assembly of the Caliber 321.
There is the person who assembles and controls every Speedmaster Calibre 321. This has been stated by Omega from the beginning. However, a lesser-known fact is that every caliber 321 is finished twice. The watchmaker will assemble it, regulate it, disassemble it, clean it, and reassemble it. This is justified by the fact that watchmakers may check to see if all parts are interacting correctly. It is the old way of doing things; you will only see it today with some high-end brands. One well-known example of a company that still uses a two-fold assembly is A. Lange & Söhne. Because it takes time, the capacity of the watchmakers is compromised.
Omega also decided that all of the Speedmaster Calibre 321 watches could only be serviced in the Bienne workshop.
According to Omega, it plans to make 1,000 to 2,000 watches with a caliber 321 each year. However, according to speculations, production is more likely to be on the lower than on the higher end of that spectrum. Omega doesn't exchange numbers (even to us). However, the epidemic prevented watch manufacturers' workshops and production facilities from operating at total capacity.
